Mr John Barnes

John was born in Norfolk and on leaving school moved to London where he joined Glaxo Laboratories working in research and development. He later moved to another pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim and when the company moved from north London to Bracknell he and his wife Margaret and the first of their 3 children moved to a house in Little Sandhurst and in 1971 moved to Crowthorne. John’s career has taken him to many countries around the world, including living in Germany and Australia. He became a trustee of COATS in 2005 and has been Chairman since 2007. He has broad managerial experience, was a keen sportsman, still travels widely, and enjoys watching his family grow.
Mrs Yvonne Hattersley

Yvonne’s working background is in Information Technology and education.  She has lived in Crowthorne since 1970 and has been involved with the local community during that time including Guiding (Brownies), PTA, handbell tune ringing and church.  Her first encounter with COATS was volunteering in the old charity shop located where the new library now stands.  Her current involvement with COATS began in 2003 when a friend asked Yvonne to go with her to a public meeting about the future of the charity. It was facing severe financial crisis and possible closure due to the changes in legislation governing residential respite care and also the loss of income from its charity shop due to development.  Yvonne was convinced that the Day Centre should be retained and became a member of the committee.  She is pleased to be part of a successful organisation which is so well supported by its local community.
